The Proxima is a great example of what Medford is doing to the knife world. The "chamfer" or bevel around all surface edges brings me back to the softening done by hand on custom 1911 firearms. The locking studs are wonderfully recessed into the frame when open, and the sound/feel is much more akin to racking a hand-fit .45ACP than opening a knife from most other makers. The flipper/hilt is well thought out, and provides supreme confidence when your hand makes a solid purchase. We humans tend to enjoy mechanical devices with soul. When engineering, design, and function all blend into something greater than the sum of its' parts, it is captivating in the most primal of ways. The Proxima has soul in spades!
My Proxima is taking considerably longer to break in compared to my Praetorian T- just something to be aware of & certainly not a bad thing. The action is smooth, and perhaps could be perceived as being even smoother than the Praetorian T - given the greater handle width of .187"
The hardware is recessed completely into the handle, and finally the pocket clip is relatively small & low profile but stout which seems to work well. I tend to wear jeans & belt when leaving the house so any size/weight concerns some others may have are out-the-window for me personally. All of this results in the Proxima being a pleasure to carry, and even more pleasurable to use.
